회사 소식 What Is Vinyl Sports Flooring? A Practical Guide for Indoor Courts

When a school, club or community center builds an indoor court, the surface choice comes down to three options: a wooden sprung floor, a poured polyurethane system, or vinyl sports flooring. For most buyers, vinyl — also called PVC sports flooring — is the practical middle ground: consistent performance, far lower installed cost than timber, and easy to maintain.

Where it works best. Most indoor sports: volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, gymnasiums and multi-use halls. The photo above is a classic volleyball installation — orange playing zone, green surround, factory-printed white lines.

• Thickness. Leisure and multi-purpose halls typically start around 4–4.5 mm; competition volleyball and basketball usually run 6–8 mm or more. Thicker rolls give more cushioning underfoot.
• Cushioning & ball rebound. A good vinyl floor absorbs impact to protect knees and joints while keeping a consistent ball bounce — the balance the indoor-surface standard EN 14904 is written around.
• Wear layer. The top layer decides how long the floor keeps looking new under heavy daily traffic.

• Badminton / table tennis / school multi-use hall → around 4–5 mm
• Basketball / volleyball training courts → 6–7 mm
• Competition halls → 8 mm and above
• Need one floor for both sports and events? Pick the thickness for your main sport and use reversible markings.
